Lecture and Lofting Workshop, June 13-15, 2025 Antique Boat Museum
Friday, June 13, 2025 I will give an evening slide lecture entitled Ways of Learning; An Apprentice Boatbuilder in Japan, based on thirty years of research on traditional Japanese boatbuilding. I will have copies of my books for sale and can sign them for buyers. The lecture will be hosted by the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, New York.
Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15 I will teach a lofting workshop in the Small Boat Shop of the museum. I will lead students lofting two or three boats, covering all of the essentials of working from a table of offsets to create full-size drawings in three perspectives. I will show how to loft the stem rabbet and expand the transom, and discuss methods for using the lofted lines to create building molds. The course will run from 9-5 both days.
Contact the Antique Boat Museum if you wish to reserve a space in the workshop: 750 Mary Street, Clayton, NY 13624 tel 315.686.4104. As more information becomes available I will post it here.
