museum Boats

My projects working for museums are based on the premise that we live in an age that is starved for craftsmanship, and that a display of boat building offers a compelling exhibit for museum visitors. I also believe that it is not enough to save the objects of a craft tradition; we must save the skills that created those objects. By nature boat building creates an exhibition that is constantly evolving, and so invites people to visit the project many times over the course of construction. I also believe in demystifying boat building, and invite the public to take part in these projects as volunteers and students. I have built boats for museums across the United States and Japan.
