Restoration

At various times in my career I have worked on vessel restoration. These have been mostly large vessels. I did small projects on the historic ships of San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, including the scow schooner Alma, lumber schooner C.A. Thayer and the ferryboat Eureka. The two projects listed on this page are the most complete and ambitious restorations I have been involved in. At Point Reyes I worked along completely rebuilding a motor lifeboat while on the Ticonderoga I worked the last year of her five-year restoration.

All of my restoration work has been for museums or parks and therefore has conformed to distinct standards: use of the same materials and techniques as original construction and documenting all changes to the original fabric.
